Theater Stages Christmas Farewell

haroldpinterBritish playwright Harold Pinter, winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize for Literature, died from cancer on Christmas Eve.  (Read the full story here and a tribute here.)

Pinter was a leader in the “theater of menace,” a contrast to then-prevalent depictions of domestic life. His plays forced audiences to wrestle with issues of power and violence, especially in the context of relationships.

Pinter – poet, playwright, director, and actor – was 78 years old.
